**35 days of vacation leave for every employee, regardless of length of service and work performed - is this really possible? Will longer leave encourage Poles to start larger families?
Vacation leave - how much is it in 2024?
An employee whose length of service is 10 years is entitled to 26 days of annual leave per calendar year. An employee with less than 10 years of service on his contract is entitled to 20 days of annual leave. Note that years of education also count towards seniority, and there are groups of employees who are entitled to longer annual leave.
"Solidarity" wants longer vacations
The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk received a request from the "Solidarity" trade union. The unionists are requesting an extension of vacation leave to 35 days. The 35 days of annual leave would be for all contracted employees. Seniority would have no meaning. Trade unionists believe that extending vacation leave will contribute to building better conditions for starting families in Poland. Recall that the number of births in Poland is declining. So far, the benefits for parents and families introduced by the government have not changed this demographic trend.
Leave for an entrepreneur - is it possible?
"Solidarity" also raises the topic of leave for business owners. At the moment, a business operator is not entitled to a vacation. Is it possible that this issue will change?
Work-life-balance
The world is changing and people's approach to work is changing too. Younger generations in particular value work-life-balance with a definite emphasis on life. They often opt for remote work or hybrid work, instead of a full-time job - part of it, and they put time over climbing the career ladder to build relationships with friends, family and develop their own passions. They would certainly enjoy a longer vacation leave.
And employers? Well, while corporations and larger companies will find it easier to arrange work to replace a resting employee, small businesses will feel the change the most. Observing the current situation on the labor market in Poland, we are still talking about an employee market, and many companies are complaining about the lack of people to work. Longer vacations will contribute to longer absenteeism of employees who will already be difficult to replace. Unfortunately, this will affect the functioning of companies - the quality of service provision and production of goods.
Staff shortages - how to cope?
When an employee goes on vacation or sick leave, it is crucial that another person be able to take over his duties as smoothly as possible. In this case, the software in which employees work on a daily basis plays an important role. It should allow support for any number of jobs. Preferably licensed in a flexible model - you pay for active positions - as many users as are simultaneously working in the application.
Plus the ability to use a system of rules, will allow you to automate most repetitive activities - less manual work - less learning new things.
Also useful is the option to leave comments and notes in various places in the program, such as with the contractor. Not only are the counterparty's fixed terms of business crucial, but information such as "doesn't like phone calls, prefers email contact" can be equally important.
Online document circulation and archiving will also be very helpful. This will make it easy and at the same time secure to access company documentation regardless of location.
The application, accessible from a web browser, will allow convenient access to company data from any device with Internet access - without the need to install an application and regardless of the model or brand of the device.
